Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 16, 2026

Your Privacy Matters: Fluttering Reminders is committed to protecting your privacy. By default, your reminders are stored locally on your device. If you enable Realtime Sync (Pro feature), your email, name, and reminder content are stored securely to enable cross-device syncing. We do not sell your personal data.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Fluttering Reminders ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Craig Sutton. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Fluttering Reminders (the "App"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

  • Create Reminders: Reminder titles, descriptions, dates, times, and any images you attach (stored locally by default)
  • Enable Realtime Sync (Pro): When you opt into Realtime Sync, your email, name, and reminder content are stored on our Supabase servers to enable cross-device syncing
  • Use Family Sharing (Pro): Family group membership, invite tokens, and shared reminders are stored via Supabase
  • Use Pro Features: Theme preferences and custom theme configurations
  • Sync Calendars: When you choose to sync with Google Calendar or Outlook, we access only the calendar data you explicitly authorize
  • Contact Support: Name, email address, and any information you choose to provide when seeking customer support

2.2 Information Automatically Collected

When you use the App, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
  • Usage Data: App features used, frequency of use, crash reports, and performance data
  • Local Storage: Your reminders and settings are stored locally on your device

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we don't collect:

  • We do not track your location
  • We do not collect your contacts
  • We do not access your camera roll beyond images you explicitly select
  • We do not share your reminder content with third parties

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Provide Core Functionality: To deliver reminder notifications, sync calendar events, and display your timeline
  • Improve the App: To analyse usage patterns, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance
  • Process Payments: To handle Pro subscription payments through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Send Updates: To notify you about app updates, new features, or important changes (you can opt out)

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

By default, your reminder data is stored locally on your device. This means:

  • Your reminders never leave your device unless you explicitly enable Realtime Sync or sync with a calendar service
  • We cannot access your reminder content unless you enable Realtime Sync
  • If you uninstall the app without backing up, your data will be permanently deleted

4.2 Realtime Sync Storage (Pro Feature)

If you enable Realtime Sync, your data is stored on our Supabase servers:

  • Your email address (for account identification)
  • Your name (for display in Family Sharing)
  • Reminder content (titles, descriptions, dates, times, tasks)
  • Family group membership and invite tokens (if using Family Sharing)

This data is stored securely and only collected when you explicitly opt into Realtime Sync.

4.3 Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure authentication for calendar sync using OAuth 2.0
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Limited access to any collected data within our organisation

Important: No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Calendar Integration (Pro Feature)

If you choose to sync with Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, we use their official APIs. These services have their own privacy policies:

  • Google Privacy Policy
  • Microsoft Privacy Statement

We only access the calendar data you explicitly authorize, and we do not store this data on our servers.

5.2 Unsplash Integration

When you search for images using Unsplash, their privacy policy applies:

  • Unsplash Privacy Policy

We do not track or store your Unsplash search history.

5.3 Supabase (Realtime Sync & Family Sharing)

  • Purpose: Cross-device sync and family group synchronisation
  • Data: Email, name, reminder content (when Realtime Sync enabled), family group membership, invite tokens
  • Optional: Only activated when you enable Realtime Sync
  • Privacy Policy: Supabase Privacy Policy

Note: Reminder content is only stored when you enable Realtime Sync.

5.4 PostHog (Analytics)

  • Purpose: Anonymous and consented usage analytics to improve the app
  • Data: Device info (with consent), feature usage, approximate location
  • Data Residency: European Union
  • Two Modes: Full (with consent) and Anonymous (without consent)
  • Privacy Policy: PostHog Privacy Policy

5.5 Payment Processing

Pro subscriptions are processed through:

  • Apple App Store: For iOS users - Apple Privacy Policy
  • Google Play Store: For Android users - Google Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat: For subscription management - RevenueCat Privacy Policy

We do not collect or store your payment information directly.

5.6 Analytics and Website Tracking

We use analytics services to understand app and website usage and improve performance.

Website Analytics (with your consent):

  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to analyze website traffic and user behavior on our marketing website. This service collects data such as pages visited, time spent on site, browser type, and referring website. Only activated after you accept cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.

5.7 Mobile App Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog for analytics in the mobile app with a two-tier system:

Mode 1: Device-Linked Analytics (With Your Consent)

If you opt-in during first launch, we collect:

  • Device type and model (e.g., "iPhone 14", "Samsung Galaxy")
  • Operating system version (e.g., "iOS 17.2", "Android 14")
  • App version and build number
  • Features you use (screens visited, buttons tapped)
  • Session duration (how long you use the app)
  • Approximate location (country/city derived from IP address)
  • Anonymous device identifier

You can withdraw consent at any time via Settings > Privacy.

Mode 2: Anonymous Analytics (Always Collected)

Regardless of your consent choice, we always collect basic anonymous data with no device identifier:

  • App version
  • Platform (iOS or Android, not device model)
  • Aggregate feature usage metrics

This anonymous data cannot be linked to you and cannot be disabled.

We NEVER collect via analytics:

  • Your name, email, or personal identifiers (except when using Realtime Sync)
  • The content of your reminders or tasks (except when using Realtime Sync)
  • Precise GPS location
  • Your contacts or photos (except images you attach to reminders)

Analytics data is:

  • Stored in the European Union (PostHog EU servers)
  • Transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
  • Retained for 12 months, then automatically deleted
  • Not sold or shared with third parties

6. Your Privacy Rights

6.3 Opt-Out Rights

  • Marketing Communications: You can opt out of promotional emails at any time

  • Analytics: You can opt out of analytics at any time via Settings > Privacy in the app
  • Analytics Data Deletion: You can request deletion of your analytics data by contacting info@flutteringreminders.app

Legal Basis for Processing: We process your data based on:

  • Your consent (e.g., calendar sync, optional features)
  • Performance of a contract (providing the app service)
  • Legitimate interests (improving the app, customer support)

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date
  • Sending an in-app notification for material changes
